That’s it, that’s all we’re about. Our audience is musicians, not listeners. We don’t review albums, post hype or promote bands. We’re not experts, so we don’t tell people what they should do very often. Instead we pick the brains of others musician (usually ones that have made a dent in some way) about touring, merchandise, DIY band management, and how this very particular brand of sausage gets made. We also talk to producers, booking agents, label owners, promoters, artists, photographers, etc. about their equally important work. If you read enough of these interviews, you’ll have a pretty good picture of what goes into getting music into people’s ears at various levels.
If you’re wondering what we mean by “underground rock,” it’s just an awkward umbrella covering doom, stoner, sludge, death metal, black metal, progressive metal, good old-fashioned heavy metal, thrash, punk, crust, hardcore, metalcore, grindcore, and a hundred other sub-sub-sub-genres that probably didn’t exist two weeks ago… If it grows from the seed Black Sabbath planted in 1970, that’s our jam.
This isn’t for everyone, so we don’t do a lot of social media. If it’s for you, the best way to follow us is by subscribing to our email newsletter. It’s old-fashioned, but it works.
